Enzo Mari 1123xF

Similar to the chair 1123xR, this table project was given to one of our summer interns to build as a teaching tool for them to understand craft, connections, structure, and thoughtful and economical design.  We could not think of a better start to the summer than for them to study the work of the famous Italian furniture designer Enzo Mari.  From his book "autoprogettazione" which means "self-design" in English, Enzo makes a strong case for individuals to build their own furniture from standardized components to further their understanding about the power of simple and functional design.  In case you were wondering why we feel furniture design is important as architects, please see our blog post "The Relationship Between Designing Furniture and Designing Buildings".
