Engaging the Alley
There aren’t many experiences more ordinary or at times banal than walking to your car through a back-alley parking lot. In an effort to make overlooked everyday experiences more engaging and memorable, we are proposing a mural for the wall directly behind our office building. These proposed designs utilize vibrant color interactions, rhythm, and simple geometries to excite and give new personality to an otherwise boring space. The painted drive balances and harmonizes with the new wall mural while cluing drivers into where doors may be swinging into the drive and using perpendicular lines to slow traffic flow. The mural will poke its head out onto 2nd Avenue, providing an interesting art piece for the patrons of nearby bars and venues, like 41st Street Pub and Saturn.
