The fundamental idea was to produce a simple piece of furniture that could be quickly fabricated from readily available materials with hopes of streamlining the process for mass production. Through the iterative design process with multiple prototypes and full scale investigations, the selection of materials, shape, and accentuation of details such as inlays and unorthodox finishes was refined to be a flat-packed, affordable plywood stool that features friction joints, hand crafted finishes and an honest sensibility for aesthetics. In its final form the piece hints at the manufacturing and assembly methods used in its construction, with a bit of color to keep things lively. Simple form, elegant solution, sto͞olē.
