AVIATION TECHNOLOGY CENTER

This conceptual study for an addition to an existing aviation technology facility in Huntsville, Alabama explores how new architecture can establish its own identity while remaining supportive of what is already there.

The design draws from the precision and functionality of its industrial setting. Simple forms and vertically ribbed metal cladding create a restrained exterior, while carefully proportioned openings, areas of glazing, and selective moments of color introduce rhythm and character.

Rather than mimic the existing building or compete with its primary entrance, the addition takes on a quieter role, distinct and purposeful, but intentionally restrained.

The result uses material, proportion, light, and color to transform a functional addition into a thoughtful extension of the larger facility.
